The dreaded socialization question

It happened again today. I was lazing by the public pool, working on the tan on my legs, visiting with other moms and they asked if I was ready for school to start. I told them yes that it had been a long summer and hoped they would let it go. No such luck. They wanted to know where Daria attended school. So as casually as I could I mentioned that we homeschool and we had started on Monday. The first question after the gasps and denials that they could ever homeschool their children was wasn't I worried that she wouldn't get enough socialization.

Keep in mind that Daria was running all over the shallow end of the pool, playing with a group of little girls we see there from time to time (no, I don't know their names. They are her friends, not mine and it's at the public pool not in their homes.) Then she helped a younger boy learn to float on his back and showed his mom and him that she can do front flips, back flips and handstands. She visited with the lifeguards, she visits with the guy at the gate. She occasionally even comes and talks to me (usually when she wants money for the snack bar, but whatever.) I think she's fine, but then I came home to this link on one of my homeschooling websites and had to put it on the blog. Happy August!

What about socialization?
