Rites of Spring

For some people, the first day of spring is determined by the calendar. For others, it's determined by when you can safely plant the garden. In our house spring is determined by the way the air smells, how much sunlight is available, and whether or not you can go outside barefoot without losing any toes. I took these pictures when Daria wasn't looking, because it just summed up how I feel about spring.
