Fruits of my labor
Through the last year I have battled my child tooth and toenail about school. I have put up with a lack of confidence from those around me because my child will not perform on demand for anyone. I have redirected her little ADHD tushie until I am blue in the face. The constant refrain of my days is, "yes, now do the next one. No, honey, now sit up and do the next one. Get back in your seat, and do the next one." I have read until I am hoarse, prayed until I am exhausted, and cried myself to sleep many a night.
Today we took a reading assessment. After I enlarged the font and put it under the purple filter:
She tested out reading at 2nd grade level.
That's a whole grade level above what I was expecting. Granted I had to call her father and have him threaten her to make her do it, but I think we may be getting somewhere after all. She has also tested out of nearly 2 months worth of math in the last week. I knew she was gifted, I think this confirms it. Now back to the salt mine.
Worky, worky nosey grindstone!

I find that with my child too - he doesn't seem like he's paying attention, he doesn't appear to be focusing but then something comes along and reassures me that he's been paying attention all along.
What a relief for you and for her. ongratulations on a job well-done. Kids, they are just so unpredictable!
